Birth doulas provide physical and emotional support to moms and their partners before, during and after labor.

Studies have shown that a doulas presence at birth can:

• result in shorter labors
• reduce the rates of interventions and cesarean birth
• reduce mother’s request for pain medication
• increase positive feelings about the birth experience

Doula services include:

• a home visit to discuss plans for labor and birth
• 24 hours a day on call for the two weeks before you due date until you give birth
• unlimited phone support until labor begins
• labor with mom and dad at home and help with transition to the hospital, unless a home birth is planned
• support throughout the entire birthing process and up to two hours postpartum to help facilitate breastfeeding
• a postpartum visit that included a lactation consultation in the early postpartum period
